A Whale of a Time

Joie de Vivre is a new shop located in Carteret Village and co-owned by Janeen Russell and Leigh Orr.
We are excited about this venture and would like to do something to give back to the community that we love so much.  We have asked teachers to help us fill Joie de Vivre’s front lawn full of whales that are decorated by Carteret County students.  Decoupage, mosaic, paint, ribbons, bottle caps…the sky is the limit and the whales are being provided to willing participants. Each whale measures approximately 6 ½ inches tall and 30 inches long.  Once the whales have been “given life”, they will be photographed individually and posted on our Facebook page for votes and bids.   The opening bid for each student whale is $25.00 can be increased in $5.00 increments.  ALL proceeds will go directly back to the classrooms!!!! WE SHIP TOO! We are excited to be partnering with Communities in Schools of Carteret County and ALL proceeds of the Local Artist Whales will go to this non-profit organization.  The opening bid for these whales is $50.00 and can be increased in $10.00 increments.  The bidding and voting for A Whale of A Time ends May 7th at 4:00 PM.
We would like to send out special thanks to:
Tim Grimes of Outer Banks Marine Construction for shaping these whales
Area artists Lisa Tuchek, Craig Gurganus, Eve Norman, Abigail Poray, Mandy Johnson, Linda Spader,  and Lynn of Blu Sail Gallery for giving a few of these whales life too...
For the "We Support Our Teachers" drawing which will be held May 7th at Joie de Vivre....Beaufort Grocery, Edgewater Linen, Warehouse Wine Club, Piccatas,The Cutting Room, Circa 81, The Spouter Inn, Sammy's, Sweet Dreams Gifts and Interiors, McQueens, Janine Jones Seder of The Loft Hair Salon ,Tassels, ICW and Facials and Fillers Walk-In Med Spa.
Kevin Orr with Edward Jones for contributing $100.00 gift certificate from Teacher's Pet for the whale that receives the most votes
Pete Humphries for donating the wood and Phillip Carawan and Chip King  for cutting out MORE whales...and Sammy Boyd for donating MORE wood!
We know we will have many more thanks to send out before it is all said and done but for now THANK YOU!!!
We hope that you will participate in the voting/bidding process on Facebook.  The whales will be photographed and on Joie de Vivre's page April 17th.  Please share this with your friends and become a fan of Joie de Vivre so you won't miss A Whale of a Time!  www.facebook.com/JandLJDV
